"First Reading: Working Memory 99 Defines the Inaugural NeuroRank Leaderboard"
The inaugural NeuroRank top-20 snapshot reveals a striking pattern: sessions with working memory at the 99th percentile dominate the board across every genre.
First Reading: Working Memory 99 Defines the Inaugural NeuroRank Leaderboard
This is the first leaderboard snapshot captured by the weekly recap routine. There is no prior week to diff against, so what follows is a reading of the board as it stands: who is at the top, what cognitive signatures got them there, and what the distribution of 20 board entries reveals about how the combine is being won.
The Board Leader
NR-CVAQ98, playerTag "Lidn", holds rank 1 with an overall score of 83 on the MOBA genre path. The session archetype is The Carry, which requires raw speed, decision quality, and target prioritization to converge simultaneously. The scores that drove that classification: working memory 99, decision quality 90, prioritization 87, tracking accuracy 76, raw speed 75, consistency 65.
The overall score of 83 is the highest on the current board. Four sessions have crossed the 80-point threshold (ranks 1 through 4, scoring 83, 82, 81, and 81 respectively). No session has yet reached 85.
The Pattern That Runs Through the Board
Nine of the 20 board sessions carry a working memory score of 99. That is not a coincidence and it is not a rounding artefact. Working memory at the 99th percentile appears in the rank-1, rank-3, rank-4, rank-7, rank-9, rank-13, rank-15, rank-17, and rank-20 sessions. It spans MOBA, General, and both archetype poles -- from The Carry at rank 1 to The Strategist at rank 20.
Decision quality at 99 appears in six sessions: rank 2 (vello, General, Fragger), rank 7 (jpjp, MOBA, Flex), rank 9 (koolio, General, Anchor), rank 15 (thevk, General, Strategist), rank 19 (lll, General, Balanced), and rank 20 (Tmas, General, Strategist).
The sessions that score 99 on both working memory and decision quality simultaneously are the clearest outliers on the board. Rank-7 jpjp (MOBA) carries working memory 99 and decision quality 99 against an overall score of 79, suppressed primarily by raw speed at 50 and tracking accuracy at 62. Rank-9 koolio (General) shows the same twin-99 signature with raw speed at 45. Rank-15 thevk (General) repeats the pattern with raw speed at 50.
What this means in plain terms: elite cognition is reaching the leaderboard faster than elite mechanics. Players with top-1% working memory and top-1% decision quality are scoring into the 76-83 overall range even when their raw speed sits at the 45th-50th percentile. The scoring model is measuring what it was built to measure -- the cognitive architecture of the player, not just how fast their hand moves.
Genre Distribution
General sessions lead the board by count: 9 of 20 entries come from the General path. MOBA sessions account for 8. FPS sessions hold 3 positions (ranks 8, 10, and 16).
MOBA holds the top overall score. The top four board positions are occupied by MOBA (rank 1), General (rank 2), MOBA (rank 3), and MOBA (rank 4). FPS's highest-placed session is rank 8, held by NR-P8UP82 "swift" with an overall score of 78, driven by decision quality 95 and aim precision 84 alongside flick speed 75.
Archetype Distribution
The Support archetype (working memory, consistency, tracking accuracy as primary profile) and The Strategist archetype (working memory and decision quality as defining traits) each appear four times across the 20 board entries. The Flex archetype appears three times. The Anchor appears three times. The Fragger, The Carry, The Rifler, and The Balanced Operator each appear once. The AWPer appears twice.
The distribution reflects the cognitive profile of who is taking the combine this week: players whose cognitive strengths run toward information management and decision accuracy rather than raw mechanical ceiling.
Consistency as the Common Ceiling
Across the top four sessions, consistency scores are 65, 60, 65, and 75. Consistency is the dimension that most frequently separates the 80+ sessions from the 83+ ceiling they could theoretically reach. The rank-1 session has working memory at 99 and decision quality at 90, but consistency at 65 is what holds the overall score to 83 rather than pushing it toward 88-90.
For the next snapshot, the metric to watch is whether any session can combine working memory 99 and decision quality 90+ with consistency above 75. That combination has not yet appeared in the top 20.
Next leaderboard snapshot: Thursday 21 May 2026.
